6 Ways to Fall Back in Love with Your Home

On the days when you find yourself scrolling Pinterest for solutions thinking that if you don’t find one, your next move is to open a new tab and start looking for listings, try these tips. You can fall back in love with your home again! Use these 6 tips to get out of your funk and love the place you live.

1.       Do a project you’ve been putting off. Yeah, that one that you’ve been walking around on the floor for the past two months. The one you keep stubbing your toes on. You keep telling yourself it would only take a few minutes, so make those few minutes happen now! You’ll feel so glad to have the project behind you that you’ll have a whole new outlook on your home.

2.      Take the things on your bathroom counter that have homes in the cabinets and put them back in the cabinet. Even if you have to take a few extra seconds to use them, it will be worth it when your counter space is open and airy.

3.      Rearrange the things that are left on the bathroom or kitchen counter. It will make your home feel fresh and new, without having to move. Giving a little bit of a refresh to your space can make it interesting again.

4.      Notice which little things irritate you the most about your home and then change or fix them if you can. Annoying broken doorknob? Cracked switch-plate? Change them for new ones! It’s a small change, but it will make you love your home so much more. (Ideally, when things like hinges, doorknobs, and outlet covers are correct for the space, you don’t notice them at all. If you are noticing it, then fix it to something you won’t notice!)

5.      Open a window or light a scented candle. Getting a new, pleasant scent in your home can give you a completely different impression of the place! It doesn’t have to take a lot to start loving your space, and this small change can make a big difference. Just make sure you are burning candles responsibly.

6.      Do a quick clean. When the windows are sparkling and the floor is free of crumbs, it’s easier to feel at home. It doesn’t have to be a deep clean of your whole house, but even a short once-over can make a big difference.

With these 6 tips, you can fall back in love with your home. It’s worth it to take a few small steps to improve your living space. You don’t have to scroll for solutions when the solutions are right there in your own home! You deserve to love the place you live, and these tips will give you a place to start.
