Hi, I’m Alyssa.

I give women with ADHD and autism personalized systems to create a space they love so they finally feel peace and confidence in their home.

Working in home organization wasn’t my original plan. I graduated from college with 2 bachelors degrees, one in education and the other in psychology. Immediately after that, I married my high school best friend. Well, life happened, and for one reason and then another, getting a job outside the home just wasn’t in the cards. Then the whole world took an unplanned break, and I couldn’t stand the chaos in my home anymore. I decided to make it my job to figure out what wasn’t working for me, and through research, trial-and-error, and a lot of laughing at myself I improved my skills to the point that my mom calls me for household advice! When I realized how many others had the same questions, I decided to make my methods available. I wanted to teach people what I had learned so they could do it too (with fewer headaches!) and with that goal in mind, I created this site.

I know what it’s like to struggle with traditional organizing techniques that just aren’t built for your brain, because I have autism and ADHD, too! I have always been annoyed with the status quo of home management and how it didn’t work for me. With different techniques, a clean, functional, organized home is not only possible, but easy. Now, I teach women like me what I've discovered so they can have the kind of peaceful home they've always wanted.

When I was very young, my family lived down the street from an absolutely gorgeous yellow house. It had big, wide siding and a beautiful porch. There were huge front windows, too, and especially around the holidays when it was decorated, the whole place was absolutely breathtaking.

Then one day, several years after moving away from that house, I drove past it again. It had been sold, and the new owners repainted it white. I was crushed, until I realized that it wasn’t the yellow paint or the house itself that I loved so much.

I loved the feeling it gave me when I saw it, like no matter what else happened that day, everything was okay because the yellow house was still there. I decided that was the energy I wanted for my own house. When someone comes into my home, I want them to feel like time slows down, and everything is okay because the yellow house is there. The shape, style, and color of the house aren’t nearly as relevant as the feeling it gives someone, and that’s the reason I created Alyssa’s Yellow House.

My goal with this site is to bring that feeling into my own home, and the homes of others. We all deserve to feel at peace in the places we live, and that’s why I’m sharing my methods.
