Our Intentions

Your privacy is important to us. We value your trust, and we promise to be open about what we do with the data we collect. It is our intention to treat your data with care, and this policy outlines our commitment to our customers to treat their information the way we treat our own. This is how we gather, store, and use data with the greatest possible integrity, fairness, and transparency.  We know it is important to you to understand what happens to your data.

This policy applies to anyone whose information is collected by us or our site. This includes customers, vendors such as those who process financial transactions, and others working on our behalf who need occasional data access, such as our web host and email servers.

Data We Collect

In order to run our site, we need to gather information. Some of this information is used by us, and some we collect because it is legally required. This information includes any identifying online or offline information, including names, IP addresses or other digital footprints, physical or mailing addresses, usernames, photographs, and financial information. Most of this information must be provided by you, the user, with the exception of IP addresses. Those are collected when you sign up for our email list to comply with anti-spam laws. (We don’t like spam either, and will do our best not to send you any.) If you leave a comment on our site, the data in the comment will be collected, as well as the IP address and browser user agent string to help us avoid spam comments. Comments may be checked by an automated spam detection service. We like to keep the spam to a minimum.

We use this information only for conducting operations and maintaining legal compliance. While we do need to collect some data in order for the site to work as intended, we collect and store the data we acquire safely and fairly. (In order to protect our intellectual property and your access to your purchases, for example, our site needs to recognize your login.) We will not use your data for purposes other than those stated, sell it to third parties, or communicate it to third parties who do not also have accessible data protection policies. Except where required by law, your data will not be distributed to any party other than those agreed upon by you when you provide the data. We will comply with legitimate requests from law enforcement authorities.

You may at any time request that we correct, change, remove, or reduce data we have previously collected. We are not responsible for what happens to data you have submitted to third parties, and you will need to address data revision requests to them directly.

When users register on our site, we store any personal identifying information they provide. Users can see, edit, or delete their personal information at any time, with the exception of changing their username. Website administrators can also see and edit user information if required.

In addition to requesting your data be removed or updated, if you have an account or have left comments, you can send a written request to receive an exported file of your personal data we have collected, including any data you have provided to us. This does not include any data we are required to keep to maintain legal compliance, carry out administrative purposes, or maintain site security.

If at any time we are informed of a data break affecting your data, we will notify you at the email address associated with your account.

To request an update, removal, or change to your collected data, send an email to alyssa@alyssasyellowhouse.com with the subject line “DATA UPDATE” so we can process your request as quickly as possible.
